Nanoscopic materials inspired by images of fabrics: material samples interpreted as simulated, macroscopic photographs of nano-sculptures. The base for these enlarged, tiny grown crystal structures are textile patterns, translated on two levels. One is colour: a scan of the textile colours the individual parts of the structure directly. The other turns the weave into three-dimensional stacks of interlocked platonic bodies. The two layers sit in an uneasy, offset relation. On a meta level, the simulated photograph seduces the viewer into imagining the setup as an existing material reality.
