Synthetic constructions of shapes and structures as complex as natural occurrences, yet following rules that are man-made and artificial, modelled by and after human thought. Some are engineered from physical growth and distribution processes but bent towards a common design goal. The outcome was open at the start, so we would not produce something we knew beforehand, and leave room to explore unknown territory.
The topic that crystallised from the results was the juxtaposition of simulated organic topologies and hard mechanical artefacts, as known from technical production. We built synthetic spaces with invented rules and parameters that let the two formal worlds collide, interact and inform each other.
