Gorleben Archaeology
Speculative Technology

Three objects from a dig that has not happened yet. For forty years the salt dome at Gorleben was meant to hold Germany's nuclear waste; in September 2020 it was dropped from the search. These finds imagine what a later dig into the salt might bring up: consumer electronics grown into protest gear, a circuit board under a peace-dove badge, a caramel carrying an RFID chip, a siren block behind an "Atomkraft? Nein danke" sun. Useless high tech: devices whose purpose is lost, kept as relics of a hope and a fear.
Renders, 2020–2021. Not yet exhibited.
