Blurring the lines between organic matter, live organism and wearable artefact: clothes become colonies of engineered bacteria populating the naked skin.

Zeitguised was invited by Esther Perbandt to interpret her Summer 2015 collection as live visuals for the stage show at Berlin Fashion Week in summer 2014. Organically manipulated mutations of moss, algae and lichen grow on obscure volumes to unify the body with its second skin, levelling the difference between designed matter and living organisms. The wearer no longer animates a passive piece of cloth: the material itself becomes an active agent in drawing the line between inside and outside. No longer a static, sharply defined border, it is a constantly transforming grey zone, negotiating between slow and fast states of adaptation and metamorphosis.
